The Traces of the Sicilian Muslims
by Sherif Fathy Salem 54’ | 2009| HD A young Sicilian Arabic language professor poses a question about the influence of the Islamic period of Sicily’s history on its present identity. To find an answer, he journeys across his homeland searching for the traces left by its Muslims during their presence on the island. He meets with ordinary people, fishermen, farmers, chefs and ceramic artists. Moreover, he also meets with highly qualified Sicilian professors of history, agronomy, geology, anthropology and history of art. The conclusion he arrives at far exceeds his expectations.
